This may be a stupid question -- but on one of the PC's in work, the little + signs for expanding a subdatasheet have vanished -- the subdatasheet option is also greyed out -- I can't find any difference betwenn the settings on this machine and on others -- anyone any ideas ?

Try using REPORT within access -- you can group the payments and have the report print as a receipt. -
