Sorry, I phrased my question badly.

What I meant is that I potentially want to run MS OFFICE XP Professional under Vista, but am not interested in buying Vista if there are compatibility issues.

    Sorry for the confusion

    Cheers

    XP Professional and Vista

    Hi

Does XP Pro run OK on a Vista machine without problems, unlike Access 97?.

Don't want to buy Vista if I have to upgrade Access.

    Cheers

Advice on setting up a RAID System please

I have an XP2 machine with IDE drives and plan to add SATA drives for backup security.

Is it better to boot from the SATA drives and backup to the IDE's or vice versa?

If booting from the SATA's do I have to install Windows XP first to load the SATA drivers from floppy or is there any way round this?

I am new to RAID setup so any general tips would be welcome.

    Cheers

replied to Retrieving Registry info after crash
Despite all the great help I've had, I couldnt locate the appropriate user hive to import.

So as per Motoma, I decided to reinstall XP over the top of the existing partition hoping that the data would not be affected. It wasn't and I was able to get the info I wanted.

So, again thanks for the help.

    Thanks for the reply.

Given that the HKCU is a memory copy, do you have any suggestions how this info can be read from the non-bootable slave?

Thanks guys for all your help so far

    Thanks epots9

This method works well for most keys except the one I want. The key I want is in HKEY_CURRENT_US ER but loading this hive is not available (the option is greyed out).

I loaded another hive HKEY_USERS and I could see and edit its values

So still no further - so close and yet so far!!!

I am desperate to do this so any more help would be reat

    Thanks for the quick replies

Unfortunately, it appears to load the registry from the boot (Master) drive

The keys I want are the email account settings as in Outlook Express.

    Any other suggestions gratefully received

    Retrieving Registry info after crash

I have a drive that crashed, now non-bootable. I can slave the drive and see the system files but I need certain registry keys from the non-bootable drive and inport it to the new registry. OS is XP with sp2.

Many thanks for your help. I am still getting used to the VB events. I had not realised that the event I needed was the Click event. In Access it would be the AfterUpdate event which I think is more descriptive.

    All working now

    Cheers

  • Displaying access records based on selection made in a combo box

I am trying to learn VB after many years programming in Access. I am trying to do something in VB that is simple in Access. How do I display record data on a form based on the selection made in a combo box?

My problem may lie in not understanding which event is triggered when a new value is selected in the combo. I am working on the basis that when the new value is selected, I can then use the new value to reposition the data in the...
