refreshing gmail?

I have been having this problem for MONTHS and because I could not stay signed into google, I was unable to comment! But I finally fixed it, and it has nothing to do with clearing cookies, or cache, or making sure 'delete browsing history' was unchecked, or making sure the site was on the allowed list - as I had tried all that to no avail.
