Hydaral replied to If this was entered in the criteria field of an access database, what would it mean?in WindowsThe criteria must match whatever is in the OrderID control on the Orders form. -
This is because Windows loads certain drivers on install and will not run on a significantly different machine without re-installation.
You might want to try running the OSs in a virtual environment running on a Linux host OS, the VM will appear to have the same hardware no matter what machine you run it on.Leave a comment:

Making hidden files visible should show you them, but you said you have already done this and you don't see them, then they probably are not hidden.
I just found an article with links to software that can recover the checkdisk files:

There is also TrID:

It doesn't sound like the files are hidden, it sounds like checkdisk was run on the drive and it found corrupted files. The found001 file should have a chk extension, this is a pretty good indication that checkdisk was run on the drive.
I think your files are gone. How big is the found001 file?Leave a comment:

So you have removed the battery (both mainboard and laptop) and left it for a few minutes? And you have also tried shorting the mainboard jumper?
There are some good tips here:

Databases don't have a specific date format, the format is defined by whatever formatting you use in the front-end application.
As a general rule, for any date operations I do with any database, I always use the ISO date format. All databases will accept this and it is non-ambiguous.
Display date: 7 August 2010, 7:52 AM
ISO date: 2010-08-07 19:52
You can see that is is YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS

As Killer42 said, it's best not to touch them, but you can reduce their size indirectly.
With most of these hidden system files you can tell Windows how much space on the disk you want to devote to them. So if it is currently ~1GB, as it appears to be on your system, then you could configure Windows to only use 200MB instead.
Of course we will have to know if this is the case on you system first. Did you run a disk analyser?...Leave a comment:

It could be System Volume Information files or shadow copy or some other Windows system files that you can't normally see.
Try a disk usage analyser like Overdisk, WinDirStat or SpaceSniffer to see if that shows you when all the space went:

A very good way of actually trying the commands is to create a Linux virtual machine. You can use VMWare, VirtualBox, VirtualPC, there are others. Install Linux on the VM and create a snapshot, then test out a bunch of commands, if you kill the OS, just restore the snapshot.Leave a comment:

Actually, Windows will complain, it says something like "there are bad blocks on drive C:".
Wikipedia for a definition:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_sector
It basically means there is a bit of your disk that has been damaged and can no longer be used.
There is an app called Spinrite that claims to fix bad sectors, apparently it works.

If you want to find out if there are any big files taking up all your space, get a disk usage viewer. I prefer OverDisk:

Some people like WinDirStat:

There are quite a few others too....Leave a comment:

Right-click on the drive in My Computer, select properties and then click on Disk Cleanup. This will let you delete temp files, recycle bin contents and other unnecessary files, it will also give you the option to compress old files, this may save considerable space.Leave a comment:

I don't know about a way to do it in Notepad++, but there is a nice command line app that can do it:
http://www.thefreecountry.com/tofrodos/index.shtml
Use a batch file to loop through your makefiles, running fromdos.exe on each of them....Leave a comment:

You can use the OpenDocument format, that is zip compressed by default, or if you are desperate, Microsoft's shoddy implementation, Office Open XML.Leave a comment:

That would be your Apache configuration, looks like there are some user-friendly tools for Ubuntu, here is a guide:
http://www.zaphu.com/2007/08/21/ubun...l-and-cgi-bin/
If you want to dig more into the Apache configuration, the section you need to look at is VirtualHost, the config file should be: /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf

You will need to set up a BIND server and create A Records or CNAMEs:

It's only used in the system-wide crontab, it's not required for user-specific crontabs, they are run under that user's account.
