I use Total Access Emailer from FMS. It lets you email data from Access directly. You can create a query and tell it to email it in Excel format (you can also attach reports as PDF files).
What's cool is you can have the query filtered for each contact in your email list so each person gets their own data. That way a whole bunch of personalized emails can be broadcast at once. It runs as an add-in that doesn't require programming. There's...

There's an easier solution if you have an outlook.pst file storing Outlook data locally. If so, you can link to the file and have a contacts table that you can view and even edit directly within Access. It looks just like a table.
You can then process your emails from that. ** Commercial link removed **Leave a comment:

if you need to handle connections to the database that's outside your application, it's not such a trivial problem. You'll need something to monitor it independent of your application.Leave a comment:

What's the error code? Looks like a NoData problem to me when you try to open the report. Does the NoData event trigger in the report when you run this? A simple MsgBox would be able to tell you.Leave a comment:

If you want to see who's actually in a database at any given time and when they go in and out of the database, you may want to take a look at purchasing a predesigned package to do that.Leave a comment:

Here's a frequency distribution approach that uses a table with the group definitions: Frequency DistributionsLast edited by NeoPa; Feb 11 '12, 03:06 PM. Reason: Undeleted as the link was just to info in this case. Updated link to display titleLeave a comment:

When assigning parameters, you need to refer to the parameter name
I think your your line:
should beCode:qd1.Parameters(lngStdDegReqId) = lngStdDegReqId
Here's a good resource for queries including VBA code for parameters:Code:qd1.Parameters("StdDegReqId") = lngStdDegReqId

This falls along the line of address merge/purge products. Does anyone know if such a solution exists for Access?
I've seen this years ago where mail houses would have ways to show duplicate or "near" duplicate records, and you could view and choose which one to keep. Or it would use a priority assignment to specify which list contains the better one and automatically purge the records in the older/lower lists.Leave a comment:

I agree this is a huge problem with Access continuous forms. It's been a problem from the very beginning so I don't know if Microsoft will ever fix it.
The one thing I've done is use expressions in the continuous form so that the value is what you want the user to see for each record. You can then put a button next to it with a "..." caption and it's pretty intuitive.Leave a comment:

You can simply use the Split command for the OpenArgs value which will assign the results to an array (0 based). You can then use the UBound command to figure out the number of variables.
Code:Dim astrValues() As String If Not IsNull(Me.OpenArgs) Then astrValues = Split(Me.OpenArgs, ";") intVars = UBound(astrValues) + 1 End If

Can you just attach to the PST file and reference it from a linked table?Leave a comment:

I would echo the value of the VBA Developer's Handbook.
I've also learned a ton (and used a bunch) of code from FMS' Total Visual SourceBook. It's a code library with the VBA code, documentation, and examples. It's a commercial product so it's costs some bucks but it's saved me a bunch of time. The areas it covers is here: http://www.fmsinc.com/MicrosoftAcces...ode/index.html
Would actually recommend their...Leave a comment:

Could the report not have data? Do you trap the NoData event in the report?Leave a comment:

The date field is really a double with a date format on top of it. If you examined the value of the data field, you'll see that the days are integers, and the decimal side is the % of day (e.g.. 0.5 = 12 hours).Leave a comment:

I use Total Access Emailer. It'll let you send emails to everyone in your list, reference fields from your table and attach the pages of the report for each contact. It filters the report based on a field in your email list. The 2007 version support the reports as PDFs.
Runs as an add-in wizard so no programming is required. There's a VBA interface if you need that.
Good luckLeave a comment:
