I've retired simply exporting teh query and thedata goies through ok that way so I think I'll just rework teh query a little so it exports in teh format we need. That is by far the simplest way. I'm afraid your instructions above are a bit over my head - though I'll keep them in mind for when a I have a bit more time.
Many thanks

Tennotrumps replied to When exporting a report or query to Excel how can I get a memo field over 255 characin AccessI'm using Acsess 2007 and Excel 2003. I was wondering if I could change the memo field to a text field and if that would fix the problem. If there isn't a limit of 255 characters would that be the simplest way to fix it? I am using a report based on a query and then exporting this to excel. I will try exporting the query direct, however the report appears to work better for what we are doing.
Thanks for your helpLeave a comment:

Tennotrumps replied to When exporting a report or query to Excel how can I get a memo field over 255 characin AccessI've checked, and an excel cell can handle more than 255 characters so I'm not sure why it cuts the data off at 255 characters. We need the field to contain more that 255 characters so I can't make it a text field? 255 characters is the largest text field you can hace isn't it? So I figure that somehow the export function is taking the memo field to be a txt field? Is this the case?...Leave a comment:

Tennotrumps started a topic How to make a concantenated field pick up the detail rather than the ID of a fieldin AccessHow to make a concantenated field pick up the detail rather than the ID of a field
Hi - I am running a query (to use for a report) where in several instances I concantenate the data from 2 or 3 separate fields into one. For some reason, where the original filed is populated by lookup from another table in some (but not all) of these "joined" fields it brings in the record ID rather than the details I have requested.
Any ideas?
I am using Access 2007 -

Why is the export to excel not avaialble for a report? Access 2007
I am trying to export a report to excel but the "excel" option is greyed out. I can export the query the report is based on, but not the report.
However, if I open the database on another PC I CAN export to excel.
I've tried reinstalling Access, but it doesn't make any difference.
I've also installed the compatability file (as the version of excel is 2003), but to no avail.

MS Access - How to allow a report to be exported to excel
I have a report in MS Access which I want to export to excel. However the option is greyed out.
I can export the query which teh report is based on, but not the report. However, when I open teh same database on another pc I DO have the option. What am I missing?
