access forms appear blank when data connected to excel is open
I figured out what was causing the problem here. After exporting the db table into excel, I edited the mode to 'read write' from 'read only' in the connection string. That did the trick. It's all good now. Thanks for everyone's help.

Another thing that I noted, when I reopen the sheet, I get this warning, whether to enable the data connections (dc). So I go ahead and enable the dc. At this point, I am able to view both the form and sheet simultaneously. However, even after enabling the data connection, I do not see any updates that I made in the access table via the form. in order to see the updates, I click on 'refresh' on the data tab in the sheet and get this message if the...Leave a comment:

Jim/NeoPa - I am using Office 2007 with Vista. After clicking data tab and then external data, I select the database, which gives me a list of all the available tables. I pick the one that I want which is followed by 'Import data' window. Here I select 'table' for how I want to view the data in the workbook, select the first cell of the existing sheet for the data to be put. Then I click 'ok' and it imports all the data from the access table that...Leave a comment:

Hi Jim - I am not opening the sheet in a form. This is what I am doing.
The only application that I have open on my desktop to begin with is an excel spreadsheet. So on a blank sheet, I import an access table (BE located on the network) by going to Data tab and external data group. I select the table that I want and the sheet is now populated with access table. While this sheet is still open, I am opening the form (front end)located on my...Leave a comment:

Access forms appear blank when data connected to excel is open
Hi - I have a spreadsheet that I imported from an access database, so in other words, it is connected to an external database. The database is split and when I try to open the front end while this spreadsheet is open, I do not see any content in my forms. It all looks good when I close the excel spreadsheet and then open the front end. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
Both the database (back end) and the spreadsheet are located... -
Thanks Mary for the suggestion. I really hope that I don't waste time on saving these attachments to a hard drive first. I wish there was an easy way to just forward these emails to database from where I can retrieve (filter it using a PO, or item number or some other field)it anytime. I thought of using SharePoint at one time, however my IT dept says it's not the best option either. They are talking about using a package called 'KnowledgeLake' ......Leave a comment:

Send email with attachments from Outlook to Access 2007
Hi - Is it possible to send email attachments to an Access Database. I know that we can collect data using email messages. It would be nice if there was a way to send an email with an attachment and the attachment gets saved in a database. Do you guys have any suggestions/thoughts. Thanks for your help.

Hi - I tried to word the title as accurately as possible...i know I didn't do justice. I have a little situation here. I got a table (tbl_swab) with test results for swabs namely APC and Coliform (APC_Result and coliform_Result ) done on several equipments. I am wanting to count the number of times the test failed for both APC and Coliform separately.
Failure for APC is a test result greater than or equal to 100 and for coliform, test... -

mulamootil replied to Prevent locking of frontend application when a report is opened in design modein AccessOkay that sounds right. I just started making these queries and reports in the backend and really never thought about what you just mentioned. So I guess I will just export all the reports and queries to the front-end and that should solve the problem! I am just two months old in Access...i guess that's obvious here. Thanks again.Leave a comment:

Hello everyone,
I have a database that is split into front-end and back-end. When a report is opened in the design mode (back-end) and a user tries to open the corresponding form in the front-end, they get a message 'state unable to open or lock per admin'. Is there a way to prevent it other than getting out of the design mode when user is entering data in the forms. I appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks

Thank you so much. That was a great help. It worked just perfect. Formatting an Access report is really a pain. It still leaves huge gaps in my report and sometimes overlaps fields, but it definitely hides all the fields no data. Thanks again.Leave a comment:

Hi - Not sure if the subject makes any sense to my actual problem. I want to view size of three products made on 5 different production lines on different shifts side by side in a report. Right now I am getting a report (Access 07) something like this where both shift info is displayed one below the other for all 5 lines.
Shift 1
Size 1 Size 2 Size 3
Line1 -
Line2 -
and so on till Line 5 ...
