How to Print The Values of Multiple Checkboxes in VB6
I am adding to my software. I have placed about 30 checkboxes on a form. Based on which checkboxes are selected, I want to print the values to a tab delimited text file. For instance, the first checkbox is labeled "Depth" and corresponds to a named variable of 'depth'. If this checkbox is select, I want to print column A, or 'depth' to the file. This part is easy. I am looking for the simplest way to write to a tab delimited text file,... -
Thanks. Your help is much appreciated. Now, I understand why it's performing wrong. Thanks again. -
Well, I said it was working like it should. It's not. I get an error #62. Input past end of file. The line:
had to be edited to read like this:Code:Do While Not objstream_Curve.AtEndOfStream strLine = Trim(objstream_Curve.Readline) '<----this line Array_Curve = Split(strLine, " ") 'use tab to create space
...Code:Do While Not objstream_Curve.AtEndOfStream strLine = TrimAll(objstream_Curve.Readline)Leave a comment:

This is working like it should, but why is it that not all the data is in tab delimited format? The file it prints to has large gaps in it? Thanks for the help though. Nice job.Leave a comment:

How to Read From 2 Seperate Files, and Write Data to 1
I am having trouble getting my code to work properly. I am opening 2 seperate files, skipping through the header info, and copying the columns of data into named variables. Then, I am printing the data to a file in the order of taking data from both files, and putting them into 1. I'm not sure where I am messing up, but it is not working properly. The code is as follows:
...Code:Open "C:\Temp.dat" For Append As #1

So, do I need to recode the function? Or can I add to it? Or what would you suggest? Thanks for the response.Leave a comment:

This is the code I'm using to split the line:
...Code:strLine = TrimAll2(objstream.Readline) myarray = Split(strLine, vbTab) 'use tab to create space 'read into variables lithdepth = Format(Trim(myarray(0)), "0") shale = Trim(myarray(1)) silt = Trim(myarray(2)) sand = Trim(myarray(3)) chalk = Trim(myarray(4)) lime = Trim(myarray(5)) dolo = Trim(myarray(6)) anhy = Trim(myarray(7))

VB6 and ASCII text files
Using VB6, is there any special way of reading an ascii text file, that does not have any delimiters? The rows of data are seperated into seperate columns, but there is not "space" delimiter. Has me confused. I am trying to read in about 10 columns of data, with x number of rows. Any help or suggestions? Thanks... -

How to read line #50 in first column as variable 1
I need to read a tab delimited text file in vb6, and store the first column, first line of data in a variable. I need to do the same with the last line, first column of data. This should store a number in the variable. For instance, read line 50, column1 and store in variable "depthstart ". With the last line, first column, stored in a variable named 'depthstop'. That's the only data I need to pull from a tab delimited text file. Does anyone... -

I am using the code below to reference the file:
tFile is referencing a file such as "C:\Temp\Temp.d at"Code:Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject") Set objstream = fso.opentextfile(tFile, 1, False, 0)
Is there any specific way to close the file, if using filesystemobjec t? I've tried just "Close" so it would close anything opened, but it didn't work. Thanks again.Leave a comment:

I keep getting a runtime error '70', access denied. What does this mean? Code is as follows:
...Code:Dim Ans As Integer 'check if originalfile matches saveasfilename If tFile = fSave Then Ans = MsgBox(fSave & " already exists. Do you want to overwrite file?", vbquestion+vbYesNoCancel, "Save As") If Ans = vbYes Then 'saveLeave a comment:

Splitting & Comparing 2 Strings
I am having a problem trying to compare a file string to see if the save as file string needs to be overwritten. The logic, I believe, is to compare the 'save as string' with the already open 'file string'. Does this make sense? When the Save File dialog comes up, I need to compare the save as filename with the already open filename, and if its the same name, then ask to be overwritten. I'm not sure where to start. I believe the file extension, '.las'... -
Thanks for the help. After all the work, I have encountered a serious problem. The file I am reading from, is not in a standard tab delimited format. Is there anyway to modify the code as it reads line by line, and say that if its a leading space and a trailing space, then move on; If its a number then save it to a variable? Then write the variables to a standard tab delimited format. Does this make sense? I can send the file I am working with, if...Leave a comment:

Thanks for all the help. How could I implement a progress bar to advance the value as it reads the lines of data in the file its processing? I have looked at some examples online, but none really say how to link the progressbar.max to the file size or line size of the file. Thanks againLeave a comment:
