Hi all,
I was wondering that is it possible to host a website on IIS 7.0 using our own computers?? in other words can we turn our own system into a web server so we dont have to depend upon an ISP?
just using try-fail approach, I loaded my website on IIS on my own system, and the contents are not accessible on any other machine.
any guide, or a hint towards achieving it is highly appreciated. thanks very much

loading data without a page refresh
hi all,
I am developing a web application related to the share market, what i want to accomplish is that i want to present the user share market data that will be updated every 40 seconds. but i dont want a page refresh do do that, i wanna do it the way it happens on say facebook, in which the page is updated with new contents without refreshing the page.
somebody suggested me to use AJAX to do so. can anyone give me a starting... -

thats solves my problem mate..thanks very very much...but could you kindly elaborate a little further that why it loads the image from the Image folder and does not from App_Data folder??

yes it is a webapp.. and i dont think that the application folder changes to any other location on build..and the the images and other resources remain in the App_Data folder..

no man..i aint doing anything fancy..i simply in the panle properties, set the imageURLPath as the picture i have in the App_Data folder..thats all.. it shows the picture in the designer but not in the explorer...

Hey everyone..
I am facing a strange problem right at the start of my project.
I am developing an asp.net application using visual web developer 2005. I have a panel in which i have set a background image. when i run the project the image would not display in the panel, instead if i set the backColor property to say red, the panel filled with red color is displayed but not the image.
i have tried an image box also, but the problems... -

see for instance.. suppose you pay your fee on 10th of every month, the last payment you made was on 10th of july.

hi all,
i am writing a program for an institute where students pay their fees monthly on different dates for the courses they're registered. for example, if i pay the first fee on 24th of february, my next fee dues on 24th of march, and if you pay your first fee on 05th of december, your next fee dues on 05th of january.
the issue is i need to figure out when the fee is due for a student. my brain is completely choked on this. .net... -

Every now and then we encounter .net application, desktop or web, that have a really pleasant look. They are designed using .net platform but the controls and functionality that are there are not to be found in the .net IDE.
for example i was looking at www.etihadairways.com which is designed in asp.net, but when i search for those controls in the visual web developer toolbar, they are not to be found. similarly there... -

yes these are the factors i have to think about..i have developed my application keeping the database in d:\ drive.. and i know it would be inefficint like anything if i deliver the app to my client telling them the database has to be in d drive anyhow :D if you could come up with an efficient solution for this problem..it...Leave a comment:

how to package .mdb file in the installer?
hi everyone,
I have a finished application that is ready to be delivered to my client, I am looking for an efficient way to add my database file (i.e. .mdb file) into the installer package, thats one thing..another thing is that how can I customise the installer package to always put that .mdb in the D:\ drive during installation..
any help is highly appreciated and any suggestion to do it another (better) way is also welcome..

thanks buddy, I will try that as soon as possible.. it seems like quite workable.. the only thing i am worried about is that this perhaps will cause the text in my labels to to give an awkward look..that is resizing the label size might cause the text to be disappeared..an yways.. i will give it a try and will get back to you..

Interface rendering issues

i am working on a project, the details of the projects are not relevant so I am omitting that, the interface and the code behind are working smoothly, the real problem that i am facing is that, when i try to run the exe file on different computers (e.g on vista using different resolution than mine, or XP) the interface would not render properly, for example if i left align a label and a textbox on my .net IDE, and run it successfully,...
