    G'Day,
Actually, I've just realised that the code I use starts existing programs. It won't actually help you run code in a program. Anyway, in case you're interested below is some code that starts the Windows Event Viewer in a new thread. Multithreading does get rather tricky, especially when you need to pass messages around between threads and update controls on the form.

    Code:
    Dim prsViewer As New System.Diagnostics.Process

    G'Day,
I found I have this problem when I'm loading data from the database when the form (or report) loads. You should probably try putting the database query into a different thread. That way, the form can continue loading without having to wait for the database query to complete.

    Hope this helps
    Cheers

  • G'Day,
I don't use data binding anymore. I find it more flexible to manually control the data being displayed. This is more tricky as you need to manually keep track of position in the data rows and handle end of records etc. However, to answer some of your questions:

    1. Not sure. I don't think so. Maybe have an options form where the user can browse for the file if they move it (otherwise, have a default value).

    Write to Vista Registry

    G'Day,
I've been trying to find an answer to this for a long time now and haven't been making any headway. I have a maintenance application that runs a defrag, checkdisk, windows updates etc in VB.NET 2008 Express (.Net 3) and as a part of that the application is to reset the username so the user doesn't have to remember their particular username (you'd be surprised how many users don't know their username). This is even more of a problem...
