    Installing XP On a Vista Machine

    Hi,

    I was trying to install XP on my HP laptop having the Vista Home Premium 64 bit preinstalled. I found out the steps that I need to take through google but my pains don't seem to end there.

    When I tried booting the laptop with XP bootable CD, it gave me following shocking error:

    "There is no hard disk drive installed on your computer. Setup cannot proceed."

      Hi,

      I could install the studio on Vista 64 bit but not from the Team Suite DVD. I instead copied whole of the DVD to hard disk and then ran the setup. Even though I could install the studio, it gave me some warnings saying that the version of studio has COMPATIBILITY ISSUES with the installed version of OS (Vista Home Premium 64 bit) but it didn't mention what the issue was and how could it be solved.

        Hi All,

        I have a Vista Home Premium 64 bit laptop. Is it possible to recover the system using recovery disks after it has been formatted? Also, is it possible to recover after formatting and reinstalling Vista (or any other OS for that matter)?

            I got whatever partitions I wanted. I used the open source util "GParted". This has worked really well and is very easy to use.

              I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium 64 bit installed. It also has a recovery partition. Now since this can be used to restore the system back to its factory state, HP/Microsoft didn't provide any Vista OS DVD even though MS must have charged me for the Vista license.

                Hi All,

                I have Vista Home Premium 64 bit installed on my HP dv6000 laptop. The laptop has a recovery drive from which I created the recovery disks. Since this drive was provided, MS didn't provide me the Vista OS disks (even though I have paid the license fee for the OS).
