Extract last names with variable formats?

Hi... I need some help with either a formula or vba routine that will extract last names for a comparison. The names can come into my spreadsheet as any of the following
    John Doe
    John J Doe
    Jonh Jason Doe
    John Jason Lee Doe
I've already stripped out all of the suffixes (Jr., Sr, CFA, MD, etc) and am using the following formula. The problem is, for some reason some of the results are blank. I copied this formula...

  • Data Access Page - how to change visibility based on criteria?

Hi - I'm putting together a status report summary for a team of about 15 based in the US (various places), London, Hong Kong, etc. The users have expressed interest in using a web form (data access page), which I have submitting data to an Access db on a shared network repository. They want the forms to be saved in a Sharepoint repository for easy access. So far, so good.

Where I need a little help is in setting the data access...

  • Display results of worksheetfunction in textbox on userform?

    Hi...
I'd like to display the results of a formula on a userform to alert users that certain operations are still in progress.

Essentially, when the user clicks a button to compile results from 28,000+ api calls, the form will display with the formula results (which I'd prefer not to have in a cell on the worksheet) and options to proceed with partial results, or to cancel the operation and wait for a period of time.
    ...

  • Replace Cell Value in formula as loop executes?

I'm sure I'm going to kick myself for this, but I just can't get the syntax right. Perhaps I'm a wee bit fried... anyway, hopefully one of you experts can set me straight again.

All I'm trying to do is increment a value in a formula as a loop exectues through a range. I can't put it in one cell and do a fill down throughout because I'll end up with inaccurate results. When I embed the api call in an if statement, only about 75%...

  • Wow...that certainly helped - I really appreciate the info. I've used the same syntax elsewhere in my workbook and I'm sure it'll speed things up!

Fastest way to replace blank cells?

Hello - have gotten some great advice from your site, so I figured I'd join and see how much more I can learn. Not a programmer, but am working on a project which requires me to do some VBA programming (via Excel 07).

I'm currently trying to find a fast way to replace every blank (empty) cell in a range with a text string "No Data Available"

My spreadsheet is over 28,000 rows, and the cells which need replacing...
