I had them defined in the standard code module, but I overlooked that I had also defined them as a dim variable in the code of my private procedure. That ofcourse is the reason why it didn't work. It all works perfectly fine now.
Thank you.

Public variables: memorized values
Hi everyone!
I have defined 3 public variables:
A procedure defines those variables:Code:Public OldCompany As Variant Public OldLast As Variant Public OldFirst As Variant
Now I would like to retreive those values for the variables in another procedure, in another form:Code:OldCompany = !Company OldLast = ![Last Name] OldFirst = ![First Name]
...Code:With rs1

Thank you for your help!
I tried your code, it opens the contact details form, but not on the right record (where I double clicked on)
I tried almost anything, but no results so far.
This is my final code, could you take a look at it please?

Dear NeoPa,
If you could get me started, it would be of great help.
I will try to explain - the best I can - what I am trying to do:
I have a main form (Contact List) with a subform (Contacts subform). This subform has a table in it displaying the fields (ID, Company, Last Name, First Name) of my table. The ID is basicily an autonumber for each record.
Now I would like to create a link between...Leave a comment:

Webpages and Acces 2003
At home I have the Office 2007 version, which offers the great new possibility to insert attachments in your database.
Unfortunately at work everything still runs on Office 2003. I was wondering if there was an alternative solution to 'attach' or 'upload' webpages or other files.
If not I'm afraid I should use hyperlinks to a shared folder on the network?
Thank you.
Kind regards,

Dear Joe,
Thank you so very much for the awesome reply! I've learned a lot from your explinations, although it did not entirely fix my problem.
The main difference with your code is that I am not using a ResultList instead I would like to see the data in my subform filtered. So I have a main form (named Contact List), which includes a subform (named Contacts subform) which consists fields from the "Contacts"...Leave a comment:

I guess you are right and that I could reduce navigating possibilities to the main form. So when 'Contact Details' are asked for the selected record, they show up as a 'pop up' which can easily be closed again.
Could you help me with the filter settings though? Should I use a macro to solve this problem?
Thank you!...Leave a comment:

I'm sorry. I was adressing myself to hjozinovic, refering to the code he wrote. The had already consulted the link you gave me, but I find it very confusing, and am not able to translate it into my problem....Leave a comment:

Thank you for your reply!
Although I appreciate your effort, I did not illustrate my problem well.
In my form I have a combo box, where users can select the field (for example: company) they want to search in. Then I have a textbox, where they can enter their search (in this example: the company name).
In the code you wrote, the combobox shows the items in the table, while mine shows the fields.

That is a good question. It would give more possibilities if the user still has the possibility to navigate between the records after the specific record is opened. So I guess that makes it more difficult to work through a filter. I was thinking more in the direction of introducing a 'go to record' action with appropriate conditions, but which I would not know how to define. Is this a possibility?
Thank you!

Link records in different forms
I am very new at this and find myself lost in the numerous possibilities Acces has to offer, some help with the folowing problem would be very nice.
I have created 2 forms, named 'Contact List' and 'Contact Details'. The form Contact List, has a subform with a table: 'Contact subform', which displays all the contacts in a table. I also created a button (in the subform) to go from the list to the details, now I would like to go to the... -
Create filter (dropdown and textbox input)
I am still very new at this (first timer actually).. I am also trying (with numerous efforts) to create a search box in a form. I have made a dropdown box and a textbox to enter the searchcriteria. I have copy pasted the folowing code:
...Code:Private Sub Find_Click() If Len(cboSearchField) = 0 Or IsNull(cboSearchField) = True Then MsgBox "You must select a field to search." -
I am still very new at this (first timer basicily).. I am also trying (with numerous efforts) to create a search box in a form. I have made a dropdown box and a textbox to enter the searchcriteria, as is discussed in this case. I have copy pasted the code above and am trying to understand what Steward posted:
Me.Filter = GCriteria
Me.FilterOn = True
How do I create this filter, and do I put it in this code, or in a module where...Leave a comment:
