Ok..thanks I am understanding a bit more about the graphics. I have found some tutorial sites also that deals with using it in Dev-C++. I can see it will take me at least a month before I start this program.

    Thanks for the replies,

Sorry I took so long to get back. But I was trying to understand the first post answer but i don't think I get it fully. What I am getting is that I should just do the program and then worry about graphics..in other words graphics can always come later....

Like..let say I do a random get week menu function...I make sure that is working and all the rest of my program is and then worry about putting...

Need advice on a project I may do

I am thinking of doing a project along with learning more about c++. I plan on making a Meal Planner program. I have seen a few but they look like they were down in Visual Basics though they were written in c++. So my question is if I want my program to be user friendly in the end like those how do I go about it? Can I program it first then add graphics or do I do them together? Is there a special book for using those types of grapics in c++ (I want...

Sorry I took so long to answer back, my internet was down, had to replace the cable modem.

Just to note C++ was the first language I ever programmed in and the reason I stayed in CIS that is why I wanted to start with it first it is the language I got more practice in. The problem I have is finding out how to use it in the real world, but that is a next topic I will post. I will try the c# and pyton next.

    On the subject...

    Would it be wise

to learn all the C languages (C, C++ and C#). I am doing C++, but wonder if I should just do them all or learing one of them is just as good. I am not sure where to go with my career path as yet, I just know I want to do programming, through freelancing/self-employment or contracts. (I am looking into Database programming too).

Is a c++ certification worth it?

I don't have any experience in it other than college (graduated in 2005) would a certification help or it wouldn't matter for c++. Should I try to get as much certifications in any programming language or practicing is enough?

    Thanks,

I just tried the cin.get(); again, and it leaves the window open. I guess I did something wrong in the beginning. so I guess I will just use that for now.

Ok so the Console is the C Prompt, do I just program in there. Is there a frustration smilie. I am trying to do a quick program fast while my toddler is busy and this is a huge setback. (Ok breathe..)

I saw a small example of how to do it on Yahoo answers. It is looking familiar like what I used in school.

I think I find a way I will try it out in a while as toddler now wants attention.

    Ok.. back to the...

So is there any free program that let me see my work? I am going to try the 'correct way' although I have no idea what it is. Is it something already on my computer or should I just google it?...

    Compiler Question

I am starting to get back into C++ Programming. I am a beginner. Can someone let me know what type of compiler is the best. Is it worth it to buy one or are the free ones good enough. Please list your favorite compiler too.
