    Device class for USB Audio Devices

    Is there a device class GUID for USB Audio devices? Like we have GUID_CLASS_USB_ DEVICE foe all USB devices, but is there a specific audio USB devices GUID?

  • How to differentiate a virtual device arrival/removal than a (real) physical device?

    In my application that does some audio-related stuff, I constantly receive WM_DEVICECHANGE - DBT_DEVICEARRIV AL from the Vista Business OS, although there is no actual device arrivals nor removals. I think somewhere in the code or some other application could be adding some virtual devices on the ports, so I reckon that kicks off these events.

    I think what I should do is to try to find a way to distinguish virtual device notifications...

    Windows API - GetAdaptersInfo()

    I am using GetAdaptersInfo ( pAdapterInfo,pO utBufLen); to get the adapters info of the machine. I am using GetBestInterfac e() to get the index of my connection with the far end. So then I am matching this index with pAdapterInfo->index to find out which interface i am using. Then if I disable (disconnect) the interface and connect it back again it wont be able match. I guess pAdapterInfo is changed in the meantime. If I call GetAdaptersInfo () again,...

    Dns

    Hi, it is maybe very simple question but i am not really familiar with DNS.

    I would like my DNS not to return a result (or to return No such name), when a particular query is made. For example, if client wants to know the IP of hostname1, i'd like my DNS to return nothing, how can i set this ?

    thanks much!

    DNS Lookup

    I wonder if someone could advise if there is an API to make DNS look ups? I know there are some APIs that first consult the hosts file then DNS, like GetHostByName, PR_GetHostByNam e.. But I want is the APIs that dont consult the hosts file, but that go to the DNS directly.

    Any help is appreciated.

    thanks!

    it wouldnt let me do this in the class definition:

    static int counter = 0;

    every new object should be able to manipulate counter, but before manipulating it should know the previous value -i.e. it is common for all objects-

    Sleep process

    When you intruduce a sleep for a certain amount of time, will the whole code sleep during that time? or does it depend on the implementation? could we chose that other threads to be executed even though we introduce a sleep in some other thread?

    thanks much!

    How to Link with .lib file -- UuidCreate()

    I am getting this error when i attempt to use UuidCreate( &uuid );

    LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __imp__UuidCrea te@4

    After some googling, i saw i have to link with Rpcrt4.lib

    I am using VS 2003 and not familiar with linking at all.

    1. How do I do linking?
    2. Do I link with .lib file or .dll file?

    Thanks in advance.

    GetTempFileName() causes crush

    Hello, i have an application which I am investigating the crush dump for. The application is supposed to create a tmp file under C:\DOCUME~1\<us ername>\LOCALS~ 1\Temp\

    The API called is GetTempFileName ()

    Code:

    Resolving IP addresses

    I have an application, which has a few server connections. Any suggestions on how to find out the way application resolves the IP addresses of the servers. For example;
    a. is it looking into local hosts file first?
    b. is it always requiring DNS to resolve the IP from the name without even looking into hosts file?

    any idea shared greatly appreciated!

    Tough question - Debugging Outlook plug-in

    I have an application (the code is C++, platform VS 2003) which has a plug in for outlook (i also have the msi installation file for the program).

    if i install the msi, outlook plug in will be inserted to outlook. but i have to debug it. if i run the application from the code itself, outlook addin wouldnt get inserted, only the rest of the application will work.

    I am not familiar with plug in development. Any help/advise...
