Are u able to get the IP to your Laptop if SO then try to ping to the any of the www.google.com or www.yahoo.com sites from the command prompt

If you or able to ping that sites but not able to access the sites then you have to change the IE settings in the Advance Tab

Even then if you are not able to access the internet then Let me know so that i am having the few other steps let we try...
