  • Updating a Label in a DataList from an associated control in the same Datalist?

    OK...I have a datalist that, in each row, has control and a label. What I want to happen is for the text in the label to update when its associated control is clicked.

    Here's what I have so far...just need to get that label updating.

    The Control's OnChange Event:

    Code:
    Private Sub Rating_Changed(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As AjaxControlToolkit.RatingEventArgs)
            Dim SQL As String
    ...

  • I figured this out. The trick is to use the "Tag" property offered in the rating control.

    Here's the sub routine:

    Code:
    Private Sub Rating_Changed(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As AjaxControlToolkit.RatingEventArgs)
            Dim SQL As String
            Dim ExecSP As New dbFun
            'run stored procedure
            SQL = "exec RateSong " & _
                    "@UserID="
    ...

         <ItemTemplate>

    simple c# question on master page functions

    Hi,

    I'm trying to do something that should seem very simple. I want to include a function in a master page that I can call in all of it's child pages. Something like this:

    master page code:

    void helloWorld()
    { response.write( "Hello World");}

    child page code:

    <% page.master.hel loWord() %>

    I am fairly new to asp.net and have very...
