    A logical suggestion, and likely the best. Thank you.

    Advanced Allocation/Deallocation in Memory

    Hi there,

    I'm coming to you nice people as a desperate resort with time working against me, anyway:

    I have implemented an algorithm that basically generates a very large tree of nodes, where each node just contains 4 pointers to other nodes.

    Now this generation of a tree occurs many times in the programs operation, and with the creation of new Node objects I gradually run out of memory. Obviously I need...

    Oh dear, makes sense.

    Time is short so I've resorted to my backup plan and so my modelled adversary will just cipher his own message and overwrite the original cipher; I presume that no matter what I did, the resulting effect on the program would have been failure to decrypt, resulting in error of sorts.

    I suspect it will be enough of a proof.

    Thanks for your time and the time of all those that read my...

    Editing a cipher

    Hello,

    My scenario is as follows:

    I have a program that generates ciphertext, message-hash, key pair, (RSA) and I need to model a simple attack.

    Everything is fine, but one of the attacks I am having trouble with: I need to somehow 'modify' the byte array containing the ciphertext and prove that the receiver of the message propper will be able to detect the interference.

    Whats the best...

    Solved: Character Reading problem with ReadFile()

    I've figured it out. It was quite obvious really; use chars instead of DWORDS. Thanks for anyone who looked anyway.

    Hi,

    I've been having trouble with this for the past 48 hours. I hope someone can point me in the right direction. Basically I have a text file of characters. I want to read this into the program, but it's a Windows program so I'm using the open file dialogue.

    Everything goes fine;...

    Aha! Thanks, that worked and thus I am now pointed back on the root of the problem!

    Again, I thank you.

    Status Bar text display problem?

    Hi, I'll try and keep this quick and painless.

    I've created a status bar in my Win32 C++ code, and it works fine. Then I try assigning text the correct way:

    Code:
    LPSTR textString  = "Ready";
    SendMessage((HWND) hwndStatus,(UINT) SB_SETTEXT, (INT) 0, (LPARAM)textString);
    It compiles fine, and everything is happy, only, instead of displaying the string 'Ready' it displays 2 squares (like character...

    Sample Windows Applications - Special Request

    Hi,

    Im going to get straight to the point and explain my situation. I'm going to be programming a simple windows program in the C++ language with the MS Windows SDK in the not too distant future. I'm currently thinking about the user interface.

    Now I can create quite easily a window, with the standard top toolbar (file, edit, help etc) but what I essentially want to do next is create a 'panel' down the right hand side...
