Can I Use Data Access Pages

Hello all, I am back with the new project i have had thrown at me.

I need to make a DB with forms that are accessible by multiple countries on our network so this will not be "web based" per se.

I am using access 2003 with an access 2000 format.

I tried to make a data access page but once i save the page i get connection errors. The form itself when pulled up in IE shows, but there is no data....

I will file it away as i may have use for it later. I refined a few other parts and created a delete query to run before the updates

    Code:
    DELETE tblInitialInput.*, qryEntryAudit.Status
FROM tblInitialInput LEFT JOIN qryEntryAudit ON tblInitialInput.[Part ID] = qryEntryAudit.[Part ID]
    WHERE (((qryEntryAudit.Status)<>""));
and that seems to be having the desired effect as well...

Main reason is the lookup that is done with our parts lookup and I wish to save the data as it was the day the information was input. Our parts data changes and is updated weekly....

    Overwrite Record if Value Exists

I have a form in my DB based on an updateable lookup query. When the form closes a macro runs removing all the records and updating them into a table bases an a yes/no control on the form. If the control is checked it will be added in a way that the next user will see it on their forms and queries. If the control is not checked the record is added in a way that it will not show up in other queries except on a report just to show it was reviewed....

  • Without the actual sheet, i can only wrap my mind around this so far. The answer, if there really is one; lies in either a pivot table, or creating a new sheet that pulls data from the first sheet in a standard format.

You can create A header row, then align Vlookups or Hlookups to reorganize data for importing purposes; an example using the table you posted might be
    ............... ....WorkNum.... ............... ............... ...........PayN um...

    Aye
On one hand its messy, on the other, It works for now. There might be a better way to filter the form based on user ID using a complicated VBA that i do not know the method, nor how easy it really is....

  • Getting it . . . If I understand your worksheet is only 5 columns (for example) wide and builds onto rows? Or do columns get added in groups with each entry?

For arguments sake, this seems more like what excel is specifically meant to do. Financial spreadsheets and accounting. If it does need to be in access, it can be done, but will take some work and a fair amount of formulas/reporting to reach that goal. I am sure we can reach...

ok well here is an idea in the mean time if you can use Record-level Locking instead.
I would assume that somewhere in the tables a field contains the specific school. Base queries on that as either a filter or criteria and lock the forms to only be accessable by users of that school.

using the switchboard you can have a main user interface where you select your school, and then have a selection of forms.

    Combining...

  • By your explenation, i am not sure why transpose would not work, can you be a little more in depth so i can understand, or if you can post up an example file somewhere i can take a look at it and then can provide more direct input...

Well, it certainly shouldnt be happening :)

    So as I understand:
    2 PCs
each with a version of access and excel, both have the same versions.
the output file is from a mainframe and both PCs access the same copy of the output file.
The possible options I can think of are this:[list][list=a][*]Access Settings that are different[*]DB settings that are different[*]Excel settings that are different[*]PC settings...

Well first thing i notice is the extra space between the " and the path for the database itself. That may have been a typo into the forums here so I'll ignore it for now. Second thing, I have seen Access depending on version and image use different directories and as you have the same path as my example I will suggest checking that as well.

the /wrkgrp argument is required as a peramater, but we can test them like this.

Is the Excel file saved on the local machine your working on?
Sometimes an excel file can be corrupted in a way that doesnt affect the files operation but will effect its interaction with other programs. If the files are based on one master file, you may need to correct the excil file that used as a template so all others will be correct.

Otherwise if the file is generated by another programs output, the program may be putting...
