      Thanks for your quick reply Jos,
      I think I can use sockets for my connection but I can't figure out what will be the host and port I should create the socket. I only need this connection to synchronize data in a local db. I've got a sim card on my device: should the host depend on the mobile phone company I'm using?

        I need to manage the GPRS connection (set up the connection, connect
        and disconnect) in a symbol handheld device with Windows Mobile 5. I'm
        developing this application with Java 1.3 and using IBM J9 as jvm. How
        can I deal with this?
