    Ah I see, I am assuming that I do not have access to the database for the forum. This is a project to have notifications for all the forums that I frequent. For example, this forum, I do not have access to the database but I would like to know when a new post has arrived....

    Thank you for the help, I'm not too worried about the alert sound at the moment.
    I am having difficulty in figuring out how I would go about counting the number of posts. While I could do it for a specific forum based on the html, I am looking to create a general script that given a forum address regardless of its type (vBulletin, phpBB etc..) it would let me know whether or not a new topic or reply has been created. This is orginally why...

    I recently had an interest in doing this as well. From what I found there are no tools that I could find that will convert Matlab to C/C++ or vice versa. Similarly I found that certain parts of the code have direct conversion capabilities while others need to be modified....

    Thank you very much! I intially was just trying to pass a method and not a type. I now created a new class file and overloaded the operator function. It is now up and running :)...

    My mistake, with the code I omitted line 56 would be

    priority_queue< item, vector<item>, itemCompare> itemQueue;

    I am not using greater because it does not know how to compare two items. I want one item to be define as greater if item1.number > item2.number. I will keep working on this, thank you for the reply....

    Looking at your raw HTML, you are not using stylesheets. The easiest way to have different themes is by a single variable as the stylesheet and then links or a dropdown associated with the variable.

    You should get more familiar with CSS before attempting this, afterwords, take a looke here: http://kurafire.net/log/archive/2006/01/17/easy-css-themes...

    Priority Queues and Structures

    Hello again, I was wondering if you could make priority queues with defined compare functions out of structs rather than objects. Currently I have this (with some things omitted: [CODE=cpp]

    bool itemCompare(con st item& a, const item& b) {
    return a.number> b.number;
    }

    void function(){
    .
    .
    .
    priority_queue< item, vector<item>, boundCompare> itemQueue;...

  • I am sure it is in your reading but as I said before:

    With the second question you need to ask yourself for each portion:
    What is the syntax for assigning a variable?
    What is the syntax for assigning a variable that is a number?
    What is the syntax for assigning a variable that is a character array or string?
    Can I assign a number to a string variable?
    Can I assign a string to a number variable?

  • Great job! that looks very correct to me. Have you attempted the second problem yet?...

  • Perhaps this will help:
    In order to assign variable1 as variable2 we would write

    variable1 = variable2

    Make note that variable1 is on the left side, meaning that variable1 now is equal to whatever variable2 is. If we wrote instead

    variable2 = variable1

    then variable2 would be equal to whatever variable1 is. When you changed
    gallonsOfGasUse d / milesTravelled = milesPerGallon...

    New Message Notification

    Hello, I recently came across this great site and discussion board.

    I am looking to create a notifier of sorts. I plan on going about this by creating a php script that scans a forum page (for example one of these forums). The php script would be in a constantly open window that refreshes itself every few minutes. The script would be looking for a new post, and if it finds a new post then notify me with a bell sound.

    ...

  • While this is pseudo-code, I do see a few errors in it, especially after looking at the second question. The first is on the second to last line and the second error is on the last line. The second error could simply be a copy error however....

  • When doing the first question, ask yourself:
    can I use a variable before its inputted?
    can I print a variable that i haven't initialized?

    With the second question you need to ask yourself for each portion:
    What is the syntax for assigning a variable?
    What is the syntax for assigning a variable that is a number?
    What is the syntax for assigning a variable that is a character array or string?

    error: unqualified id expected question.

    Hello there, I am currently writing a small program and cannot compile it. Each time I compile, I end up with a single error in one file and its corresponding header file. For simplicity, I will just include the header file unless requested:
    Code:
    #include <cstdlib>

    #ifndef DKS_H
    #define DKS_H

    using namespace std;

    struct item{
    	int number;
    	float weight;
    	float profit;
    ...
