    thanks, that helps quite a bit, but i guess i should explain what im trying to make here.

    and, what you showed me is what i asked, it minimizes all windows, but i didnt explain it well enough

    its gunna be a tiny little form that is gunna be right to the left of the minimize button on every window, and, this is what i need help with, when you press it, it will hide the window and make an icon in the system tray

      i know that you can hide "your" window (all of your application's windows) but how would i get control of other windows like DevC++ or AIM or AVG (just any other windows) so i can hide them?

          is there a way to run somthing like C:/WINDOWS/system32/defrag.exe using c++ and i dont mean like
          system("C:/WINDOWS/system32/defrag.exe");
          where it accually runs in dos like mode
