Task bar on left of screen

Don't know how this has happened (might have been the kids) but the task bar and start menu are on the left side of my screen, running vertically instead of horizontally on the bottom of the screen. Can't seem to find a setting anywhere to change this. Can anyone help with this? I am running XP on a Toshiba laptop.

Just left click on the taskbar in a bit that is not is use for anything and drag it where you want it to go.

It it wont drag then right click the taskbar and on the menu that appears make sure that "Lock the Taskbar" is not checked.

When you have it in the place you want it right-click the task bar and select "Lock the Taskbar" to lock it in place.

I have known people do this accidentally when just try to select a program from the taskbar.

Oh my goodness! Thanks so much - it was obviously one of the kids - the older ones have been pointing the finger at the youngest.
