Connecting Windows 7 to Xp Workgroup

Hope this is the correct forum for this question.

We upgraded our PCs at Xmas and I have 3 PCs. 2 are running XP Pro, 1 is running Windows 7 64 bit.

The 2 XP Pro PCs are in the Workgroup called 'Lytton' and can see each other and share files.

The Window7 PC was set via 'computer', 'properties' to join the workgroup 'Lytton'

The XP pro PC can see the Window7 pc, but not share files with it. The Window7 PC cannot see the other PCs and insists it is in either a HOMEGROUP, or a Work Network called 'Network'

I have been trying for months to get the Win7 pc see the workgroup, to no avail.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks for the response. It it Windows 7 64-bit Pro. ATM, My XP pc can see the Win 7 PC and send files to it, but not vice-versa and most importantly, the win 7 pc cannot see the printers.

What advance setting do you mean?

In the network and sharing center. Manage local network (the last one in the list on your left), It will give you a list of options turn on descover network and file sharing with out password . do you have any firewalls set up? on the xp, and alsoo try to move both the win7 and xp into the same workgroup,

Are you using static IPs or DHCP or are you connecting to a router with DHCP server active?
