      Hi!

If you search online, you will be able to download the normalize.dll somewhere. Do that and then copy it to System32 by command line (cmd). That should probably fix the problem.

        Hi Nepomuk ,

        Thanks for the reply.

I tried the way you asked. But the problem is not getting fixed.I tried restoring the system with the rstrui.exe. It seemed that the upgrade has swallowed the utility "rstrui.exe " too.

I am trying to install a new partition with the bootable disk.

If you could help me on how to clean up the existing one?

        Thanks!

          Hi!

With clean up you mean delete everything? If so, while installation just choose "New installation" (or whatever it's called - not the update choice anyway) and as the target partition choose the one the old installation is on. It will then offer to format the drive. Do that (my suggestion would be a full NTFS formating, but in some situations that may not be the best choice) and it should set you up with a working system.

All of this is assuming you have a normal Windows installation disk of Windows XP or newer. If you have a OEM disk, the menu might be a bit different, you may have to choose something like "return to factory settings" or "reset" or something like that. Just make sure, it's not an update and you should be fine.

One more thing: All data you want to keep, you should backup on another drive (not partition!) before doing this - there is a chance (even though only a slight one), that you will loose it otherwise if it's on a different partition and if it's on the same one you'll most certainly loose it. So, an external hard drive or CDs/DVDs would be a good option for the backups.

If I misunderstood what you are trying to do, please clarify.

          Greetings,
          Nepomuk
