Requirements for LAN network for Windows

We are expanding our MNC Company. In a few months we are starting it in new building containing 50-75 users . For all work stations we are going to install licensed Windows XP SP-3. For this how many servers needed..? Active directory server also required.

Since all our users use company's website, what speed/bandwidth of internet is required.? of what mode? I mean DSL or Leased Line...? Also we require Video Conferencing. Please suggest me the details regarding this.

Though I've theoretical knowledge, this is the 1st time getting real time situation. I request you to provide info.

    ThanQ

ADS = 1 server, what else do you need a server for?
Are you saying you want to host your own website? if your are smart, that is a small server on the perimeter network.
So that would be 2, 1 decent, 1 small.
Bandwidth depends on availability and scalability. Do all of your users need video conferencing at the same time? If so that is much more than 5-6 users.

      Hi,

      Thanx for your reply.
We are not hosting any website.. But we are using ERP which is used globally. And ours main ERP server is located at Germany. Daily our users access this for all kind of transactions. Locally we are having our own AD server which is further connected to another main server located globally.
For video conferencing, monthly 2-3 times we use it in large auditorium room.

For this what are the things required: I mean,
      1. Number of servers (50 users at our site)
      2. Bandwidth/Speed to access ERP as well as to VC

Ok, so it sounds like you need 1 server to act as an ADC to tie in with your corporate site, and depending on how much bandwith is required by the ERP software + bandwidth for regular usage, I'd recommend @ 5-10MB, Fiber if you can get it. Its quite reasonable. Just start calling fiber providers and get quotes.

AS for your server, your corporate office should really be heading up this project, as if you want them to be tied together they will have to initiate alot of that from the beginning. If they simply authorized you to handle this, then 1 should be sufficient since you aren't doing alot other then authentication and standard file storage.

Lastly, I would strongly suggest giving Win7 another look. If your proprietary applications can run on it without issue, it would be MUCH better to make the transition now instead of later. Win7 is stable and reliable, it is what we had hoped Vista would be and more.
