    Windows installer keeps poping up.

My operating system is windows XP-sp3. For a month now I have been on the net trying to find out why windows installer keeps popping up saying "preparing to install" when I'm not installing any thing. This happens every time I open up IE8 or an application or a program that uses MSI. This does not happen when I open up a 3rd party program that does not us MSI or if I go to mazilla fire fox. When I open up IE8 the MSI dialog box pops up and I have to wait for it to dissapear befor the rest of the window opens up. This became so annoying that I wound up disabling windows installer in system services. But I have to enable it again if I want to use MS word, which takes me for ever to do a draft. I have tryed everything to resolve this problem from virus scans to cleaning out my registry, to uninstalling unused programes, but nothing helps. I do how ever have my PC running tip top performance. I could really use some help. I'm pretty much a beginner at trouble shooting computer softwear, so any help you can give me in simple and step by step instructions would be appreciated. Thank you for your time. I see manage attachments below but don't to be doing the right thing. Have several MSI.logs.

Have you allowed it to run through completely? Many times after the first window disappears it will tell you what program is trying to install. Once you have that information you can begin to decide what the next step is.
