Web Marsharl and Windows workstation internet trouble

I have this elusive problem that I can't seem to get my fingers on.
    This is the senario:

I am working at a client's site (am a developer) and they have assigned me this nice little HP-Compaq machine that am using.

The have a domain with a proxy, and stuff.
I have pretty elevated domain rights, admin and all.
I can(should) browse the internet normally without any problems.

    Now here's the problem.
Once sometimes ago, I was attaching something to gmail when I got the normal windows request for auth window. I enter my user n' pass then I get this error on my browser
    Code:
The user account 'theProxy\myUser' cannot be used to browse through WebMarshal

Reason user not found - theProxy\myUser

    Please contact your network admin.
So I fire up an email (the internal mail is working on outlook) to the concerned party.
I know how slow that dept is so meanwhile I do some little investigation myself.

I discover that when I try using another PC (a collegue's), I can login and browse without any trouble. That I think nullifies the email I sent since this seems to be local to my PC.

So I dig some more and find that if I remove my username from the Local PC (By loging in locally as admin), delete my user directory(the domain one) in documents&setti ngs - after backing-up ofcourse, then login back using my domain credentials (which recreates my user dir), go back to local admin, copy back the stuff from the former user dir and login back using my domain username, the thing functions well again and I can browse.

Another thing, if I leave the PC untouched for a period such as a lunch break, when I get back it has lost the connection to the nwork, (nothing works, Remote DB e.t.c) but the notification on the tray says connection OK but if I try the repair option it fails to renew ip address.
So I have to reboot, which brings everything back to normal exept the browser which reports the above described problem and I have to go through the delete recreate my user sequence again.

As you would have guessed the user support here is lousy that's why I have been on this case myself since it's quite frustrating.

Any idea and help is very welcome.

    Regards,

    Alex.
