javascript problem when using ie browser

    dear all

I have a problem . I can't use certain webbsites because when i click on to something i get javascript. For example the webb site confused .com . If i type on car to get a car insurance it will not open the page i just get the word javascript in the bootom left of the page. This also happens when i try to open my emails in the classic version of hotmail . They will not open because of javascript. Please can someone help as its very annoying. Thanks

JavaScript must be disabled. Enable JavaScript in your browser. Which browser are you using?

Java and JavaScript are completely different languages.

To enable JavaScript, you need to enable active scripting in IE. See step-by-step instructions.

Do you have access to another browser, say Mozilla Firefox or Opera?

I'm not sure entirely, but did you follow the steps below:

                  1. Click the Tools menu.
                  2. Select Internet Options.
                  3. Click the Security tab.
                  4. Click the Custom Level button.
                  5. Scroll down until you see the 'Scripting' section. Select the 'Enable' radio button for 'Active Scripting.'
                  6. Click the OK button.
                  7. Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.

Is it possible for you to download another browser?

Did it work before? Has it ever worked? Have you recently installed some security software or a security patch? Try closing and re-opening the browser.

hi acoder yes it has always worked. it was since i changed from classic version of hotmail to the new version of live hotmail that i noticed the differenece.

basically i can open my emails in the new version but not in the classic where when i click onto the mail i just get javascript at bottom left hand side and nothing happens.

how do you switch off my bwowser and put it back on again.

someone told me i should update my java software ???

                        thanks

So, in other words, it's still working, but not for all sites?

To "switch off" the browser, just close it either via File -> Exit, or the close icon in the top-right. Then open it again, but I'm guessing that by now you've probably already done that.

You don't need to update any Java software because, as I said earlier, Java and JavaScript are completely different except by name. They are not the same language and are not used for the same purpose.

may be it's a problem with IE's popup-blocker? please check the popup-blocker settings.

                              kind regards
