    Audio Driver Needed

I've just formatted my HD, reinstalled XP, Everything works, except the sound.
I went to control panel, and see that there's something there that has a yellow question mark:
audio device on high definition audio bus

It is probably the audio hardware with no driver.

Can anybody please direct me to the right driver.

(="Thanks" in "Advance") (-I just now made this one up on the spot!!)

    Hi

Man I would help if you can provide me details about your sound card manufactured. Give me the model type or the IC number or if it is built in your board send me the board type or number.

    Regards.

if you are not sure of the details requested above please post the vendor ID and compatible ID's from device manager

      to obtain these -

right click on the item with exclamation and select 'propertes', select ' details '

select the drop down and locate hardware ID's then post the full ID at the top , for example -

      PCI\VEN_10DE&DE V_&SUBSYS_0D041 05B&REV_A2

this tells me that it is -

      PCI
Vendor ID = VEN_10DE - Nvidia the search page used

from that it is a start, the DEV part can sometimes help but if it is recent it is not always there

I bought this Dimensions 5150 from dell.
In device manager, the audio hardware seems to be "IDT high definition audio CODEC"
        Its' hardware id is:
        HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 &VEN_8384&DEV_7 680&SUBSYS_1028 01AB&REV_1032

Hi friend If you have the product name or any thing related with the model no.
or model type.Search on net for the driver download on the dell website with the product name or whatever the information you had.

Like in your case you have the model no. just go on the site of dell and search for the sound driver.Download it and just double click it will be automattically installed and you will find the sound .

For your system Here is the link on the site from where you can download it.

There is a link Audio3 just download all the drivers and see which one is compatible with your system.
