I know there are so many posts about this round the net, but I've yet to see the problem resolved properly.
If you're using a wireless network adapter in Vista it will search for new networks every minute whether you want it to or not! It lags the connection for a couple of seconds which can stop web pages loading correctly and makes it impossible to play online games. If you uncheck the box that says "scan for new/stronger networks in the background" (or something like that) it does NOTHING!! the problem persists and every minute you get lag for a second or two.
It's such an annoying bug and Microsoft are showing no signs of acknowledgement never mind a fix!
I've tried all the network performance optimizers and changing windows settings suggested in various places but to no avail.
There must be a way to disable that feature!! maybe through some API call or something. If not, then what the hell??? The only thing i found was a registry setting that looks like the interval for it (60,000ms) which you can change but the service wont read the new value till its restarted, and when you restart the service it resets the value.....great !!!
