    Disabling regedit?

I want a way to disable regedit, but enabling it with out using group policies? Im trying to make my computer safer and want to set up a set of files to enable/disable cmd(i ave bin doing it with registries) and enable/disable regedit.

Im using Windows Xp Media Edition(i can access the group policies for if i make a mistake) so is there a way to do what i want?

Hmmm you Do not want to run gpedit... ! haaa!! let me think.....$@$@$ &^$%#@#

Only possibility left is, tell some one else to run gpedit.msc, abd then you run regedit.

In short this is not possible unless and until you modify Group policy either manually or by using any programmatic ways...

I will keep looking this thread to see if any one can suggest how to modify group policies programmaticly.

I think you might be going about this the wrong way and something like ' windows steady state ' or limited accounts may work better depending on what you are trying to do

can you give some idea of what you are trying to block people from doing and what type of person and also what environment you are in .

also is there a reason for not just creating a second account that is locked down and letting everybody except yourself use that then you can just edit the registry to remove anything you want from their acount
