    problem with system starting

    Hi everyone!!!

    Whenever i start my system (OS - WindowsXP) it is showing the message "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" in command prompt. Can anyone plzz suggest me what is the solution.Even if i restart the system the same thing is happening..the system was formatted also recently few days back...plzz help

    Your system was formatted it doesn't sound like anyone installed an operating system and if they did it doesn't sound like they did it right.

      Hello,

      please check the IDE cables to hard disk. If you are booting from hard disk.
      Other wise check for the CMOS set up.Select the 1st boot device as hard
      disk.

        yep that should work in case after the formatting someone has reinstalled an OS correctly ... as it was said before :) ... you should even remove all external usb-drives from the computer in case there are some and reconnect them after bootup - or may be the bios has an option to disable it ... something like 'enable other boot device' set it to 'No' or 'disable' ... and when there is no system installed you need to install one ...
