I don't know if you can, really. Safe mode is a mode that Micro$oft designed for troubleshooting (kind of). Its purpose is to have Windows running without any of the extraneous stuff that gets loaded with it. That way, if something got onto your machine or you installed something that went awry, you can go into this mode and unload it.

To have something "auto load" in this mode would complete defeat its purpose. You should only really boot into this mode if you REALLY need it. Your drivers and such for things like video don't even auto load. Anything you want to run will have to be manually started.

    Regards,

    Jeff

what numberwhun said is correct, but you might be able to still login if you boot into safe mode with network connections...b ut be careful since your in safe mode whatever you use for security may not be working correctly or not at all.

As both my friends have pointed out, Safe Mode is not set up to run much software. It is for emergency repairs, mainly. It is, in fact, a bad idea to try to run your software in Safe Mode or even boot into Safe Mode in a non-emergency.

Did you not read what Bartonc and the rest of us have been saying in this entire thread.

IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA!!!
              (caps for emphasis only)

Safe mode should only be used for troubleshooting purposes, that is why it was created. Users should boot into the machine, normally, WITHOUT pressing F8 to get into safe mode.

Since you refuse to listen to what we have been saying, I think we are all pretty much done with this thread.

              Regards,

              Jeff

in safe mode your video drivers don't load so the video won't play (or be very very ugly and bad), so to prevent people from booting into safe mode do this:
                -start up the computer normal
-make sure the power settings are set to never turn off
-disconnect the mouse and keyboard from the computer

I want to make a program like Easy Coffee, After setting, you will see in Client computer like:
                  1) Not run any program, only run Easy Coffee Client Program.
                  2) When you boot in safe mode sucessful, Client computer run Easy Coffee client Program and show ads, not show any.
                  3) You can't press Ctrl + Esc, or Alt + Tab, or Alt + F4, or Ctrl + Alt + Del, or ... but they can't effect in Client program.
So I think we must run default program automatically in Safe mode. I don't want to prevent user access in safemode. That's my ideal. Is it bad?
If that's a bad ideal, can you show me another?.
                  Thanks for everyone rely me.

I think you should run it at startup of windows not on safemode.

Sounds like you want a very limited account and are trying to do that using Safe Mode. What you really need is Windows XP Professional that will allow you to create accounts and set policies for your purposes. After all, what guarantee do you have that your "user" will use the F8 boot. You must force them to behave by giving them their own log-in with very limited rights on the machine. Home edition is not going to do the trick for you.

It's been for a 1,5 years so far but...

It's been a long time since you asked the question, but, me and my friend found this post just now. We are actually re-creating an old (2003) version of our I-net cafe software (that was meant for win98/me), and were searching the same thing... just firstly consider this:

You can simply put password at all accounts, so no one can enter safe mode without a permission. But this is a problem in XP becouse offten you have to give at least a guest account password to your personnel (and they need to kill this kind of software badly so they can steal from you), and with guest account, you can change registry. So, the specific software must be run... This is how...

In windows registry, there normally is a key that looks like this:

                          HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\Mi crosoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersi on\Winlogon\She ll

                          (please note that's "...oft\Windows NT\Curr...") with a value "Explorer.e xe"

You just edit this key like this "Explorer.e xe, MyApp.exe" or (if that doesn't work) "Explorer.e xe, C:\Program Files\MyApp\MyA pp.exe"...

                          It's that simple.

Note, this is NOT recomended to do. This trick is actually used by some virus (we remembered by that horrible virus cleaning, it was pretty hard to figure out how it starts even in safe mode, but that was our lead that this is possible)...

                          Use on your own risk.

By the way, I somewhere just read this: It takes a 6 year old girl to brake a car, but it takes a mechanic to fix it. So if someone uses this info to write a virus, his/her intelligence is at the level of a 6 year old girl. I'd ask them: "How do you feel now?"

                          ;-) Use wisely...

                          Best regards...
