Control Panel is not visible in start menu

    Control Panel is not visible in start menu

    I am using windows xp, I found my system got with some virus. after this am unable to see the control panel from my start menu.
    I tries from RUN also for CONTROL, Iam getting a error message like,
    "This opreration has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. please contact your system administrator." since its my PC, I am the admin the system.

    kindly suggest me, how to get this done.

    Discovered in the Articles section. It's an easy mistake to but it takes a while to be found.

      have you removed the virus? that would be a start...and would probably fix your problem

        If you didn't manage to fix the virus ...

        what program told you the virus was present?

        did the virus have a name and a location?


        Post a HijackThis log here and we'll see if it reveals anything.

          I am also not able to see Control Panel in my laptop. Please see contents of HijackThis log as below:

              I have seen this before twice in fact and what i have noticed is that the virus gets so deeply inbedded in the system that whenever you try to clean it, the problem gets WORST..

              I suggest that you format the hard drive and do a clean install!
