Hi there,
As you can see in the attached picture there is a blue color background on the name of the desktop shortcuts. How to remove this. (Should I say Plzzzzz ?)
Thanks -ajaxrand
Oh, my... god
After so many replies I gotta say.. You are all tweaking registry and searching for advanced settings when its all so simple.
Go get your preferred wallpaper from the web. Open it in some random good image editor and save it in different formats. Try all of them untill you get it right.
If it doesn't work for you, then you can go and proceed to the advanced settings in the desktop area.
im just new with this site...
i'm not sure if this will work on you but i tried it works.
go to your display properties...
click customize desktop...
click web tab...
be sure that all webpages listed is unchecked...
this works great on my pc...
i hope this help
Hey thanks a lot for the tip. but this is almost 2 year old thread. but still this will help for someone who use windows XP, I guess. anyway I use windows 7 RC1 and Fedora 11. :D
Re: Remove the background from desktop shortcut name
Try this - it worked for me...
1. Get to your desktop.
2. Right-click an empty space on your desktop and put your mouse over Arrange Icons By.
3. Click "Lock Web Items on Desktop". The colour will go.
ALSO: If you want to change the background colour...
1. Get to your desktop.
2. Right-click an empty space on your desktop and click Properties.
3. Click Desktop.
4. Under Colour, choose your colour!
NOTE: DO NOT use Center with this option otherwise the background of your colours will be the same as the outside of the centered picture.
This is an inconvenience I have suffered with for years now. When adjusting for best performance on old PC's this problem cropped up and now I have the solution (see post #12). PS: my desktop background is a picture collage made by MS Autocollage and has many colours
Lol i think you guys are over complicating things, its probrobly just the background, try just going to Display Properties then choosing the one of the default themes, Example : Windows XP . then apply or OK or w.e you want
I tried all that stuff you guys said before; none of which worked, but the simpilest of things did :D
ofc then you have to redo some of your personal settings which is easy, like changing background, which might bring you back to the same issue, so watch yourself.
