    windows error msg help

    Hello
I have a tohisba laptop running windows xp.
I was wondering if someone could shed some light on why the following error message has suddenly come up.
"windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item".
This is happening no matter what I try to open. I have admin access.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you

its a common mistake, but next just copy the text and insert it inside a set of quote tags.
