      do the following:

press windows+r (it will open run)
      type: gpedit.msc

then click OK. This will start Group Policy. Expand the following: Local Computer Policy\User Configuration\A dministrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar. In the right pane you see options to enable/disable the Search and Run commands.

      good luck

Of course, that's how we do it on XP Pro. I think that we may need to find another way to solve this on Home versions. (Maybe registry tweaks).

That's funny: I just checked XP Pro and XP Home Edition; The behavior that you describe was not what I was expecting AND it was not what I got. GPE is notoriously hard to start - maybe you have some special setting to make it easier. If so, please tell us about it.

I have an idea, if you right click on the start menu and click "Properties ", when the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window comes up if you click the "Start Menu" tab and click "Customize. ..", then goto the "Advanced" tab, and if you scroll through the window(Start menu items:) you should find "Run Command" and "Search" make sure thoose are checked. That might be your problem.

"Not Configured" does not matter. Make the settings "Disabled".
[How did you get gpedit with no Run menu item?]
In the group policy editor expand the following:
Local Computer Policy\User Configuration\A dministrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar
The two setting that you want are:
Remove Search menu from Start menu
Remove Run menu from Start menu

                      "Disabled" means "don't remove".

                        hello friend

                        try this

Please create a new account with addminstrator power. and delete your current acount.

but first check your computer for virus more then one antivirus scanner to remove any virus.

                        thanks

                        tell me your results.
