Internet is not working

I am a Desktop support Engineer in an org. And i am using Windows XP OS and internet is not working

Check the cables if its connected. Also check your ip address.

hai folks u said u work in an org. so most probabily u will hav a Dns server and a squid proxy server.so what u do is that go to cmd prompt type ping to all these servers and then chk 4 reply.if so then proceed otherwise chk cables.after that go to lan connection settings & take tcip properties and chk ip address and dns servers add. etc after that go to the internet properties and tak lan settings and add the proxy servers address with the foll port specified by the organization.u will finally connect to net.
