Processor showing twice

in My Computer > Properties .. The processor is showing twice i mean two time although there is only one processor in my computer. that is 2.0 Ghz and its showing ..



i know its a silly question .. but just to know why ? :P

Does your processor support HT? if so thats why.

HT chips make your computer think thats that 2x the number of chips that are really there.

It is nothing to be alarmed about.

Your pentium 4 supports hyper threading technology...

That's completely normal. The first is the speed the processor is capable of. The second is what it is actually running at.

yeah it makes sense .. kaz i didn't find any label etc related to HT even not in bios. when i boot my machine and check its showing me 1.2 GHz - 1.6 GHz then in the middle its varing upto 1.9 GHz.

but i can see a sticker

The 'm' is for mobile. Just like it says in your first post. Most laptops have an option in their BIOS for turning on power saving mode. With that on (as I suspect is your case) the processor only runs at full speed when it needs to. Mobile processors know when to slow down in order to extend battery life.
