    Restricting local admin access for particular application folder

    Hi,
    I have an issue where users require local administrator access on the pc to be able to run a particular program. However I do not want these users to have local admin access on their pc's.

    I know the particular folders on the C:\ drive that they need local admin access to to be able to run the program. Is it possible to allow the users to only have local admin access on this particular folder without having local admin rights to the rest of the pc? If this is possible - how is it implemented?

    Any help welcome.

      what OS are u using? XP, vista, or anything else?

                  Thanks for the reply. This would work but I dont want the users to know the admin passwords for the machine. Effectively I dont want the user to be an administrator on the machine but still want them to be able to use this particular application as an administrator without having to enter any admin account details. I hope this is making sense? I have an idea this is possible through group policy in AD but I dont have access to play around with that area unfortunately.

                      I don't know what AD is, but perhaps this will help:
                      To run the Group Policy Editor, see How To Use the Group Policy Editor to Manage Local Computer Policy in Windows XP.
                      In that editor, go to Local Computer Policy->User Configuration->Administrati ve Templates->System.

                      This works on the network as well as on local machines.

                          I think I found a lot of good information here

                          It seems a little more complicated then I thought it would be - anyone have anymore straight forward idea's maybe?
