    Windows Installer problem?

    Hi there,

I'm having a problem getting games like Rome Total War installed onto my system, I've tried it with both HDDs, and it does exactly the same, it says it's installing, asks for the disks, etc, and when it gets to "Publishing Product Information", it stays there for about three minutes, and then the installer just closes down as if it's finished, but when I check the HDD there is nothing in the directory I was attempting to install the program to.

Anybody have any idea what might be up?

Download the latest installer for windows and check the manufacturer of Rome Total War for updates or patches.

Installer problem is described in the following Microsoft Article along with a solution.

    Regards, Cyber.

Thanks for that, I've got the latest version of the installer.

I attempted to re-install the game again, and I watched the folder where it installs, and it went normally up until "Publishing Product Information", when it uninstalled the lot for no explained reason, and threw me back to the desktop.

So it might not be a Windows Installer problem.

Try installing to a different location and make sure you have admin rights to the machine.

Give me your system specs and the minimum specs required by the game.

Last but not least, create a new admin user account on your computer login and try installing again. (use a different folder is possible)

        Regards, Cyber.

Tried installing to a new location, and tried installing it to a number of different locations on a new admin account, still nothing. The game has been installed before on the same setup, only before I didnt have my new HDD installed, and I've attempted to install it onto the HDD it was installed on before, and that wont have it either.

          AMD Duron 1.8Ghz
          256Mb RAM
          XP Professional SP2
          256Mb Graphics Card
          DirectX 9c
19Gb HDD (Drive C, old drive, XP & general stuff installed here)
250Gb HDD (Drive X, new one, games, music, etc.)

It's also doing the same with some other games (The Movies), but not with a few others (Sims 2, Republic: The Revolution).

Sounds like it might be trying to connect to the internet. If you're connected, you may need to unblock this app in your firewall.

Tried that, made sure that anything that looks like the installer is unblocked, and also turned it off for the duration of the install, exactly the same happened again.
