Newbie needs help with outlook express

    Hi all,

Found this site through google whilst desperately trying to solve an outlook express issue thta's driving me insane. I'm a very basic PC user. When I add an address into my address book, it adds it into my wife's address book too? We are using windows media centre and have seperate user accounts set up. I have looked in address book and our shared contacts file is empty, so i don't think it's that - I'm baffled

Would really appreciate your advice and help

    Thanks for your time

    Sam.

Hi Sam, I am Ros, I only just joined this forum, so don't really understand how this works. However, I to am having problems with outlook. Every time I open it I get this message. Unable to display the folder. Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not valid.

To make matters worse, I am not a computer guru. In fact am very basic with it comes to computers.

Sam, you can contact me on skype by search for my e-mail address. (No e-mail addresses allowed in posts, please pm each other) Cyberdyne

Hope you are having a great day...

    Cheers

    Ros

You mentioned that you "have separate user accounts set up". Does this mean that you & your wife each have to log in using separate username & password when you start Windows?

Or does this mean that you & your wife have separate Outlook Express email accounts set up? In this case, you both are sharing the same address book. I haven't tried it but I'm hoping that other experts here can help you set up separate address books...if that's possible.

        Hi,

Both - we have seperate windows user accounts, own desktop etc - and from there we open our individual OE. IN tools and account on OE we both have a different account and password from blueyonder - I'm the main account and the wife has a subsiduary off it, with a slightly different password and user name..

Your help is much appreciated - really stuck on this one....

        Sam

A good alternative would be to use Microsoft Outlook 2002 and above. If you don't want to share your contacts with your wife what you need to do is set up your user accounts to be private.

You can do this by going to Start> Control Panel> Users click on each user name and make them private, hit apply and restart and that should do it.

            Regards, Cyberdyne
