Please tell us more about your situation. Did you update Media Player lately, etc. This is either going to turn out to be a virus or an update issue so we need to know what your Windows version is in order to help others. Thanks.

Hey i get this same error message. I've had windows media player 11 for some time now. more than 5 months.

I do have divx codecs installed in my laptop. i can play two or three songs on the player until the error message and application error messages pop up. but i can't play videos at all.

the windows where my media files are also have a windows explorer error message popping out. this happens after i click on the file i want to play.

also, the same is happening when i play the files on my divx player. thanks so much.

please be brilliant and find a solution! thanks!

To reiterate what NeoPa stated much earlier in this thread: Memory Reference Errors such as this are caused by programmer error. Typically these come from users giving the program unexpected input, but the causes can be anything under the sun. We will not be able to give you any good solution except to uninstall the affected program, completely delete the associated folders (C:\Program Files\ProgramNa me, C:\Documents and Settings\UserNa me\Application Data\ProgramNam e, and C:\Documents and Settings\UserNa me\My Documents\Progr amName"...etc) and completely reinstall the program.

ok thanks, i will try that! do i have to uninstill the codec too? or will that be included in the uninstallation (?) of WMP and DivX?

Btw, i can play music now with WMP. Just not videos. Thanks.

You should remove the codec as well. May I ask which codec pack you installed?

Hello people :) i have this problem too, the error says .....the instruction at "ox7c901010 " referenced memory at "0x0000001" . the memory could not be "read". it has only happened in the last couple of days, i play online games (yahoo and pogo) and i can get the page up but as soon as i load the game, everything shuts down. do you have a "how to fix errors for dummies" kit? LOL i haven't downloaded anything before the error came up (except for limewire music videos) and am at wits end. your help would be GREATLY appreciated! thanks in advance

I can access my home page and other web sites, but when I go into pogo to play a game it will click into the site, but once I click on the game I want to play. The screen pops up saying its loading then all of a sudden it disappears and disconnects the internet connection and comes back with an error message reading...as follows:

The instruction at 0x7c901010" referenced memory at 0x000001c". The memory could not be read.

Can someone plz help me fix this? The tech stated something about our memory but we just put more memory in it earlier this year. Then, he stated something about coroad files...which we have done a restore on it and it still will be doing the same thing. You go into pogo.com click which game you want to play the screen pops up stating its loading then POOF its gone and so is the internet connection.

Of course the obvious solution, to this as to so many problems, is to use a real browser instead of IE.
