Develop a CD/DVD player with VB

I want to develop a CD/DVD player on VB enviroment,and actually do not know how to to get about that.I've written an application which could just open the music folder/file but could not play it.I thought may be,theres a special code which translates these files into their equivalent audio/video format and get them outputted on the screen and/or on the speaker.Pls I need some help.

What version of VB are you using?

And have you tried the search box up the top? I expect this sort of topic has been covered before.
