Create an exe from a program.

    Hey,

I was wondering if it would be possible to create an exe from a program using Vb6.

I have created a program, but I want the user to be able to set the text in the textboxes when the program loads without having to load info from a text file or something. I was thinking of creating a program that shows the textbox names, the user then types in what they want in the textboxes and then clicks a button to make the exe (My first program) with the custom settings.

    Any help?

    Thanks.

    Darren.

    Hi

Yes you can. Click on File > Make <your project name> .exe.... But it is recommended to make it a package installer using the Package and Deployment Wizard.: ). If your first program is simple, making it .exe would be enough as long as you include all the references or its dependent files.

      hi

you can create exe file at run time. but before you have to create a project and forms (at run time). let me make the logic clear first. start a new standard exe project. in form1 add a command button. in command button's click event type msgbox ("hello"). in the declaration section type Option Explicit. now save the project and form. close the project. now open the folder where you just saved the project. open the form1.frm file with notepad. here you will find the code in simple english. study how command1 is coded and its properties are set. similartl open project1.vbp file in notepad. and check what is written in it. after a little study every thing will be clear.you can create these files using vb6 code on run time. using this logic i have made a complete software designer and coder. you can create exe as follows:

      C:\Progra~1\Mic ros~2\VB98\VB6. EXE -M <project file path and name>

      hope this will help you

I think your best bet would be to store the text entries somewhere like the system registry, and load them each time the program starts up.

I already have a program made, but it has about 10 textboxes, I wanted to be able to make another program with my program hidden inside it, so that the user could set the text in the textboxes then make the hidden program into an exe with all the textboxes set to what they want. if that makes any sense.
