What should we prefer when writing stand alone Access Applications? DAO or ADO? Why? Thanks in advance...

Use ADO , it is better in comparision to DAO and much more flexible.

that is simply because ADO is much more simple and flexible and can beused to connect to any database

Both ADO and DAO have their uses. It depends on what you want to do.
I believe there is a discussion of their respective merits in the Access "HowTo"s.
