    application monitor/watchdog

I am looking for help in writing a SIMPLE application monitor. Effectively it must check for application(s), start them if not found to be running. Initially a standard vb .exe will do, although in time c# may be better. Anyone done something similar?

    Hello Taff!

Can you tell us a little more?

Do you have anything working thus far?

You might be able to use the AppActivate statement to check whether they are running. Alternatively, the FindWindow API call, and similar variations, might help.

Oops! AppActivate applies to VB6, don't know about C#. The API call/s would be the same of course.

        Hi Dokol,
Have all sorts of bits & pieces working. Started with a form to hope fully to display status of app, & button to start manually. Starting with basic apps like WordPad, notepad & paint. Can start the up ok with call to "Shell", but having problems understanding API stuff to discover app status. All Greek to me I'm afraid. I was hoping to find something SIMPLE, but no luck so far.
Afraid my knowlege of Windows API stuff minimal, done this kind of thing befor on UNIX systems, much easier there!
