New to VB

Hi!
i just herd of VB today and i want to learn it. Can someone give me some pointers on how/where to get started.

PS. I can only open up VB 6.3 from in MS Office programs, am i suposed to be able to open it up by itself or what?

No, the 6.3 that you're referring to is VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) which is a version of VB that is built into MS Office applications as a "scripting" or "automation " language. It's sort of like a copy of the "real" VB version 6 without the compiler to create a standalone EXE program.

VB6 is quite old - like 9 years or something. While I still use it, and like it, it might be considered a bit silly to start learning it now. What you probably should do is go to MS and download Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition. It's a free download, apparently.

(That said, VBA is very useful for automating tasks within the applications that support it.)
