the problem is dat we have to retrieve values from a machine and display them on the front end.
the machine is storing and sending the values in IEEE 32 bit format via a serial port.
so when the machine sends 'BE C6 19 24' we need to convert it to -0.386911
(which is the same value in decimal format).
      please guide me.
      thanks in advance.

If you don't understand college work why come here? I'm sure if you get a time alone with your tutor they'd be more than happy to guide you through the problems you have. If you don't do the work your self then you're not worthy of the qualification you get at the end of the course, if you get a qualification.

Geoff this is (or supposed to be) a friendly forum where anyone, no matter what point they are in their educational or professional career can come to get help. Please try to make the tone of you posts more friendly or alternatively do not participate in discussions started by students.

mirangk and Geoff,if you haven't already I suggest you read our Posting Guidelines and particularly the Guideline on Posting Coursework Questions.

mirangk's original post does not break the guidelines although it does ignore the suggestion that people will be more likely to help if you have made some sort of attempt at a solution initially yourself.
